European Union Battery Directive Services

Regulatory consulting, registration, and recycling services for compliance with the European Union (EU) Battery Directive (2006/66/EC)

The EU Battery Directive (2006/66/EC) regulates the manufacturing and disposal of batteries and accumulators in the European Union to protect human health and the environment from hazardous substances such as mercury and cadmium.

Companies are required to comply with the European Union’s Battery Directive responsibilities in order to avoid fines and shipping barriers upon import into any of the 27 EU Member States. The EU Battery Directive requires producers to properly label their battery products. They must finance collection and recycling programs, as well as public awareness campaigns for battery waste disposal. In addition, they may not charge a fee for separate collection at the time of disposal.
