Name the robot competition - Genisis

October 25th, 2005

Genalysis recently held a competition to name the first robot to be commissioned.

Many suggestions were made - some more obscure than others, but the winners were Martin Kean, Ben O’Keefe and Kerrie Hoskins who chose “Genisis” as the name for the robot. They each took out first prize of a pair of ‘La Premiere’ movie tickets that were kindly donated by Terry Wheeler.
The other finalists in the competition were James Cox (Genalabot), Casey Jung (Garfield), Ben Hassack (Goliath), Kam Wan (G4 - Genalysis forward),Tracey Atkinson (Mad Max) and Adrian Waite (G-L-O-R-I-A) who deserves a special thank you for the song lyrics!

IGES 2005 - Oh what a week!

October 14th, 2005

Genalysis was a Platinum sponsor of the IGES 2005 conference which was convened from September 19-23 2005.  As part of the social program, Genalysis organised a laboratory tour and social function for delegates and special invitees which also helped celebrate our 30th year of operation.
We are pleased to say that the day was a tremendous success, with visitors viewing the newly commissioned fully automated robotics sample preparation system, our upgraded sample preparation facility (including new quarantine area which is awaiting approval from AQIS), the laboratory areas including the Multi-Process laboratory, Gold laboratory plus the instrumentation sections of ICP and AAS.

The evening function held at the Royal Perth Yacht Club following the laboratory tour was given glowing reports from all who attended. The view was magnificent - overlooking the majestic Swan River with the reflection of the city lights as a backdrop was superb.
Many of the guests were surprised to see Genalysis’ Managing Director, Terry Wheeler, performing as part of the evenings entertainment. Vocal Evolution - an a-cappella singing group, performed a medley of songs ranging from ‘I Still Call Australia Home’ to ‘I Get Around’, a classic hit by The Beach Boys.
Genalysis must say thank you to everyone involved in the organisation of the laboratory tour and dinner function, and also to Goundrey Wines who gave Genalysis sponsorship for the event.
