Warsaw, Poland – Intertek, a leading quality solutions provider to industries worldwide, has signed a contract for the provision of custody transfer inspection services at the newly built Swinoujscie LNG Terminal in Poland. Poland’s first LNG terminal accepted its first gas delivery in December, from Qatargas – a long-standing client of Intertek’s.

PGNiG (Polish Petroleum and Gas Mining) is a state controlled oil and natural gas company and is one of the key stakeholders in the development of the Swinoujscie terminal. Intertek Global LNG established contact with PGNiG in 2009, building the foundations for a strong relationship, allowing them to demonstrate Intertek’s high technical knowledge and commitment to both PGNiG and the operator of the terminal- Polskie LNG.

Impressed by Intertek’s quality service, quick response times and extensive experience within the Energy sector, PGNiG were more than happy for the Intertek Global LNG team to monitor the progress of the terminal construction, ensuring that Intertek field experts were available to offer support.

Mr. Paweł Czapnik Metrology and Technical Analyses Manager for PGNiG said, “Intertek was the obvious choice for Qatargas and PGNiG. Service of LNG cargo inspection was done in a very professional manner by inspectors offering expertise and extensive experience.”

As the Swinoujscie Terminal was Poland’s first LNG terminal, there were no inspectors or experts available in the country, Intertek were able to offer the professionals needed to ensure that the first two commissioning cargos went smoothly and supported the first LNG cargo unloading, providing additional technical support during the cooldown process and unloading of the LNG cargo.

The Swinoujscie Terminal has been constructed with a thirty to forty years plus life expectancy, paving the way to a long and fruitful client relationship. The second assignment has been scheduled for February 2016.

Intertek Poland is new to the LNG sector however; Intertek has been involved with LNG custody transfer inspections sector on a global scale for over 10 years. Experience and extensive knowledge of the LNG industry allows Intertek to attend almost all of the worlds LNG terminals and offer clients a whole range of LNG services including tank calibration, composition analysis and impurity testing and on-site laboratory and operations services.
