Intertek expands Indonesian laboratory capabilities to include Corrosion Inhibitor Testing

Intertek, a leading Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide, is delighted to announce the expansion of its exploration and production laboratory in Jakarta. Following the expansion, the laboratory will be able to test corrosion inhibitor performance under atmospheric pressures and ambient temperatures for the oil and gas industry.
Selecting the right corrosion inhibitor treatment is crucial in order to maximise the lifespan and safeguard the integrity of oil and gas infrastructure. In the oil and gas industry, carbon steel remains the predominant material used in the construction of new pipelines. However, with operating conditions becoming increasingly extreme, corrosion inhibitors are being pushed to their performance limits. Similarly, ageing infrastructure creates challenges for attaining effective corrosion control and great care must be taken in selecting the right chemical treatment for each application.
“By testing the performance of corrosion inhibitors under simulated service environment conditions we are allowing oil and gas operators to select the best in class chemical product for their production systems.
