LabTrak V2 Release Date 14th January 2011

Responding to Minerals industry needs, Intertek Genalysis have further developed their “LabTrak” system to enable customers to view the status of submitted samples and download analytical results online which will go live on Friday the 14th January 2011.LabTrak provides tools for tracking samples through the laboratory, viewing and downloading analytical data, generating customised quality control reports and managing access rights.  All designed to provide information that is timely, accurate, accessible and secure.The latest release of  LabTrak delivers current and historical analytical report data in the customers preferred file format from a secure online web portal.

New Schedule of Services and Fees for Australia

Genalysis Australia has totally changed the way we present our services through our fee schedule.

We have now packaged our services for a variety of applications, from sample preparation through exploration geochemistry, ores and commodities and lithogeochemistry. Our method codes have also been simplified and made more intuitive.

While we know there is no ideal package to suit everyone, we hope these will make it a lot easier for you to best utilise our analysis options. Of course for large programs we can still customise packages to suit and continue to encourage you to contact us to discuss your needs so we can assist you to select the best options.

Johannesburg Facility Upgrade

JoburgGenalysis Sample Preparation Facility in Johannesburg has expanded its operations to include a new dedicated laboratory.

Services available in Johannesburg include;
- Nickel sulphide fire assay collection with an ICP MS finish for quantitative analysis of all PGE elements
- Fire Assay lead collection with a MS finish for Au, Pt and Pd
- ICP OES capacity (currently being commissioned for Au by Fire Assay lead collection)
- Specific gravity by either Gas Pycnometer or Water Immersion

Townsville Facility Now Open

We are pleased to announce the opening of our brand new custom designed laboratory in
Mt St John*, Townsville, North Queensland.

Our new facility will provide quality analytical services to the growing mineral resource industry operating in Queensland and the Asia Pacific Region. This operation will be supported by our strong network of existing Laboratories and offices globally.

The Townsville facility is currently in the process of obtaining AQIS, QAP status (Quarantine Approved Premises).

Transworld Laboratories Ghana Limited (TWL)

The Intertek Minerals Division has acquired Transworld Laboratories Ghana Limited (TWL), providing Intertek the technical resources and expertise to provide mineral analytical testing services to mining and exploration companies in West Africa. This testing is carried out in a modern centralised laboratory facility in Tarkwa, Ghana.

John Fowler, Intertek Regional Manager for Minerals Asia, said “This acquisition broadens Intertek’s regional coverage in Africa. The Transworld business complements the Intertek Genalysis facilities in Africa. Our customers will greatly benefit from this additional capability in another strategic location.”

Adelaide Facility Upgrade

AdelaideGenalysis’ Adelaide facility is in the process of expanding its operations by commissioning a dedicated laboratory and has relocated to larger premises in Wingfield.

Services available in Adelaide will include;
- Separate dedicated areas for low and high level sample preparation
- A completely separated Fire Assay facility to reduce any likelihood of lead contamination
- Gold by Fire Assay with an AAS finish
- Multi acid digests for multi element analysis with both ICP OES and AAS finish

Intertek Robotic Laboratories - FMG Contract

IRLIntertek Robotic Laboratories was awarded the contract to provide Fortescue Metals Group (FMG) with a dedicated minesite laboratory at their CloudBreak Iron Ore mine and an open facility at the Herb Elliot Port facility in South Hedland.

The CloudBreak site was initially set up to complete high priority samples through a manual XRF laboratory prior to a fully automated and integrated sample preparation, Fusion and XRF facility which has been commissioned and is completing on site analysis.

The facility at the Port contains an open manual laboratory for all shipment analyses and a fully automated sample preparation facility. The facility accepts the shipment samples directly from the ship loading system and automatically processes them for the required physical analysis and provides the subsequent sample ready for analysis through the manual shipment laboratory.

McPhar Geoservices Philippines

McPhar Geoservices joined the Intertek Group in 2008 and has serviced the mining Industry in South East Asia since 1971 and presently has 110 employees working in three divisions.

McPhar’s Geophysics Division offers ground Geophysical Surveys such as Induced Polarization, Resistivity, Electromagnetic and Magnetometer surveys.

The company operates the largest commercial assay laboratory in the Philippines and has ISO 9001:2000 accreditation.

The company also has an Inspection Division which has built up a regional practice. This division has surveyors regularly attending mineral shipments (loading/unloading) of copper concentrates, chromite, and iron ore in the Philippines, China and throughout S.E. Asia.

Commissioning of Bauxite Laboratory

The Bauxite Laboratory of Genalysis was commissioned in March 2008 in a dedicated premises in Maddington. The analysis of available alumina and reactive silica from bauxite ores is the primary function of the Laboratory with an ICP OES finish. Analysis can be tailored to client’s specifications.

Northern Territory Environment Laboratories (NTEL)

NTELNTEL joined the Intertek Group in 2007 and is the only Northern Territory based laboratory accredited for a range of analytical techniques by the National Association of Testing Authority (NATA) in Australia. NTEL provides analytical testing and sample preparation services to mining, ore and mineral companies and government regulatory bodies. NTEL is approved by the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service for the receipt and treatment of samples from interstate and overseas.

Alastair Inglis, NTEL Managing Director, said “Working together with Intertek will enable NTEL to expand its services in the far north of Australia. The focus on high quality analysis and customer service fits well with the NTEL business philosophy.
